From Control to Intuition

IntuitionIn my last article, we talked about how we control our body by repeating and reducing ourselves, when we want to feel safe.
That pattern allows us to avoid certain emotions that we consider negative: fear of being rejected, anger, guiltiness, sensation of missing out something important..

Those emotions can help us to navigate in our life. They give us some clues about what is going on inside us: what do we want or not? What makes us feel comfortable or not? What do we appreciate or not? How are we stuck in our life?

Stop being a control freak

fistIn the previous article we focused on expanding and practicing our respiration and also to pay attention and reducing some of our “daily life produced tension”.

The ironman

“You asked me to write a feed-back about my experience with you : what I have learned and how the process was. We had many funny moments. We often laughed. And with that, you have managed to focus to the topics that occupied me. I still remember how stubborn I started our meetings and how relieved I often left afterwards. In between laughing and crying. And I always appreciated your active role, your psychological flair and your ability to respond to different situations.
Well, what have I learned? To breathe. Take breaks. Then to answer. I had only to remind myself about those … and I still groping in old patterns.
And how was the process? Well, maybe it was because of my incomplete knowledge of French or your stubborn refusal to learn German but sometimes I could not understand easily your questions. The typical sequence of a session was: say hello and take off clothes. Efficiently you touched always the point, through your initial questions with glances at my immaculate feet and cracking toes. Then it was the merciless infliction of pain. You tortured me! This should also be said. Towards the end I always experienced a sense of resolution (mentally and physically), then rest, get dressed, Tschüss. Dear Michelle, thank you for many exciting discoveries!” The Ironman, lawyer.

What kind of sensations, that we usually prefer to ignore, are calling for our attention? Physical tension and rigidity, frustration, dissatisfaction, anger, irritation, tiredness, restricted breath. We can address the restricted breath by training our ability to breathe in different ways. We have already looked at this aspect in my previous articles and you can practice breathing with me every Thursday morning at my Praxis 🙂

What about the physical tension and rigidity? I refer specifically to the shoulder area, the belly and the lower back.[Read more]

Our most underestimated ability

hamster on the wheelYou would probably be surprised if I would start my article by asking you « to breath ». You would probably think that breathing is something you do anyway and doesn’t need to be enhanced. However, breathing is the most underestimated and forgotten ability we have.

By increasing our ability to breath, we could reduce our stress level and have a healthier life.[Read more]
