Touch, the most ancient sense

goose bumpsSome time ago, I read an article about a new job: the professional cuddler. This professional figure offers a very peculiar service: for a predefined time, they will give a non sexual touch to their clients. They will “just” cuddle!
This service is now spreading in the USA. The article* also mentioned some research proving that cuddling decreases stress and increases the sensation of well being, softness and affection.

Silence: a window through creativity

windowCreativity is the ability to mould a certain material into something new and original. We normally associate creativity with art or an art performance and we think that creativity doesn’t belong to us because we are not an artist or we are not living from our art. Because we look at creativity as something characterizing other people but not ourselves, we never think how creativity could appear in our lives and what creativity means for us.

Breathing…

breathingSome times, when I give the instruction « breathe » to my client, I receive the answer « of course I’m breathing, otherwise I would be dead ». This situation brings always both of us to laugh a lot, what is good for the breathing exercise !
Respiration is a basic function: we have to breathe in order to live. It’s an automatic function too: it means we don’t need to be attentive to that, breathing happen by it self (our vegetative system takes care of the automatic breathing).

Needing sunlight

We are now entering the last part of Winter and see the first days of sun allowing us to enjoy a bit of “need of the sun.” This is particularly true for people who do not practice outside activities such as skiing or walking.

Needing sunlight is now widely recognized. A brief research on the Internet makes us aware that in Northern countries where the sun is low in winter, deficiencies may occur, particularly with Vitamin D levels.

By exposing ourselves to sunlight for 10 to 15 minutes per day, we synthesize vitamin D which is very important in the storage of calcium in the bones. This vitamin is produced primarily by the body (scientifically, it is rather considered a hormone) which is able to store it.
