Is your attention free? Can you stay focus on the present moment or you need to react to every “bip” and “bing” your smart phone produces?
We are all aware that Internet and social media are addictive. But still, we can’t help to check one more time our screen to see if something new has popped up in the last 3 seconds.

The irresistible need to check at our devises is an automatic reaction triggered by apps designed specifically to attract constantly our attention. Regain control of our attention may be a challenge.

Stop being a control freak

fistIn the previous article we focused on expanding and practicing our respiration and also to pay attention and reducing some of our “daily life produced tension”.

Now I would like to look a bit closer to the question: why do we tend to reduce our breathing and tense up?

The answer is quite simple: through reducing the breath, suppressing and limiting, we try to gain control.

Contradict your self!

23.3.36 murales - copieIn my previous articles, we discovered how we hold negative beliefs in our bodies and how we may recognise the influence those beliefs have in our life.
We also started to identify a belief by paying attention at a certain situation where this belief appears, who is involved, our emotional response and how do we hold our bodies.

All beliefs give us a key for reading what is happening around us. They give us a false sense of safety by telling us what we have to do and ….what we do not have to do in order to keep us save!

Why do we want to expand our breathing?

Golden GateYou may have notice that, as many other practitioners and coaches do, I always emphasise on the importance of breathing.

The breathing is a direct bridge to our ability to perceiving more of the changes appearing inside us and in our surrounding. When we limit our breathing, our perception’s ability is also reduced. When we breath bigger and deeper, our perception becomes also bigger and deeper.
Although it is quite clear to everyone why we need to breathe, it is not always evident why it is important to expanding our breathing and deepening our respiration. Sometimes this is very uncomfortable: it takes more time and slows us down. On the other hand, it allows us to feel more of what is happening in our body!
